__ ARTWORK

My artwork is usually involved in a research based practice and a combined media approach, such as drawings, video-animations, printmaking, books or publications presented in an installation context. I often create intricate drawings, photo-montages and animations, made by altering found footage and imagery. The appropriated source material frequently dialogues with original content, this involves a cyclical transformation, either from the real or from a digital source-footage, to the physical print-out, and back again. It collapses the space between otherwise disparate processes and addresses the tensions between political reality, and expressive illusion. My projects elaborate on the relationship between the historical legacy of concepts such as: the utopian impulse, utopia, dystopia, heterotopia, strangeness, nomadism, and artistic production as a platform to find new possibilities for questioning utopia, as a critical device eminently political.
